2010 FL Arbor Day

This year Florida’s Arbor Day was Jan. 17, 2020. In celebration on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, we had an annual tree planting in Windermere Town Square.

At the tree planting were left to right: Windermere Union Church Youth Minister LaTrell Harrison, Windermere Mayor Jim O’Brien, & Windermere Garden Club Co-chairman Jackie Rapport.

Windermere Police Color Guard participated.

A Tabebuia Tree we planted.

Children from Windermere Union Preschool preformed.

Cookies and apple juice served and donated by our members which we served to the preschool children and their family members who attended the tree planting.

Professional tree climbers who demonstrated their skills at both our tree planting and the annual Windermere Treebute on Saturday, Jan. 18th.

Recognized by town council

Recently our club was recognized by Windermere Town Council for decorating the town hall’s indoor holiday tree and the tree on the back porch of town hall.

On Nov. 14th, we had a general meeting with an informal coffee and a ways & means sale at Windermere Town Hall.

Our program topic was on Pot-et- Fleur Flower Arrangements which is the marriage of potted plants and cut flowers. It is not a mini landscape or scene but has all of the form and the flow of traditional floral arrangement. President Vicki H. and Co-Flower Show Chairman Maureen T. demonstrated several designs and many of them were raffled off. Thank you!

Our next “general” meeting will be a catered Christmas Luncheon with a short business meeting on Thursday, December 12th at 11am at Windermere Town Hall. Advance $20/person reservations required by Dec. 8th. See other post or call Jackie at 407-876-5789. Guest are always welcome.

BYOB Wine

The cost is $20 per person and advanced payment is required.
