2017 Inspired Gardener Nominee

On Thursday, May 4th at the Dist. VII Spring Meeting, Windermere GC member Vicki Hearst was recognized as our club’s nominee for the “Inspired Gardener” for Dist. VII.  The Inspired Gardener award is for garden club members who are very active in gardening but who are not officers or chairman at the state or national level.

Vicki was not selected as the district’s “Inspired Gardener” but we are still very proud of her. Her work at the butterfly garden at Windermere Elementary School and designing the new landscaping at the 1887 Windermere Historical Schoolhouse, Crazy Card Party Fundraiser Decoration Chairman,  and many other club projects throughout the years has made her quite an asset. She not only was an asset for our club but to her church, friends, and family for floral arrangements she has created and landscaping advice she has given.

Our new District VII Director Sue Roberts recognizing Vicki Hearst as our club’s nominee for the “Inspired Gardener”.

VII Director Owaissa Vanderberg, Vicki Hearst- Windermere GC, Outgoing FFGC President Arlene Rand, Inspired Gardener Winner Katy Daniell-Orlando GC, Emily Bader-Winter Park GC, Yvonne Wolfe-Lakes & Hills GC, Louise Gould-Sweetwater Oaks GC. Changes to Our Website Operation

written by Donna Ditges, Webmaster

Effective immediately, Tanya Chesire will be writing posts on the WGC website.  We plan to add our byline to our articles to avoid any confusion.  Tanya will post announcements and news directly related to Windermere Garden Club.  She will continue to inform us of other garden club events through email. Tanya will gradually transition into the Webmaster position, but she will be writing Club news while she is learning how to operate the website.

Donna Ditges will continue as Webmaster until a full transition to Tanya takes place.

Newcomers Brunch Feb 2 2011

We all enjoyed meeting new members: Carolin Warren, Connie Black, Cannon Stoffell and 3 potential new members: Susan Carter, Karen Ann Blonn, Danielle Mikolaitis at the Newcomers’ Brunch.  The brunch was hosted by WGC member, Maria Hawke at her lovely home in Orlando.  The members brought food, we all networked briefly, then we all moved to the pool veranda where each Chairman of her Committe or Project presented her duties and the purpose of her Committee.

All new members are encouraged to get involved with the club activities.  Involvement in your garden club will ensure the utmost experience and you will get to know the other members quicker.
