On January 10th, we had a general meeting with an informal coffee at Windermere Town Hall.
Since I was not able to attend, the description of the program was written by Jocelyn D. and the photos were taken by Dorie B. Thank you ladies!
“The program started with the announcement by Jocelyn D., Scholarship Committee Chair, that our two University of Florida students would not be able to attend this year. Instead, she read letters of acknowledgement from them. We hope that we will be able to meet Robert Edwards and Greta Gallina on some other occasion.
The meeting was then turned over to two students from Valencia College, a new contact for our club. Cherity Grover, a second-year student, but in her first year of Horticulture, started out, telling of her balancing act with four courses and a busy work schedule. Next Nicole Ward, an adult student whose academic had been interrupted by twenty years of family responsibilities, expressed her gratitude at the opportunity to resume pursuing her career in landscape design.
After the meeting, the club invited the students to lunch at Season 52, thus giving twelve of us a chance to get to know them better. We all felt happy about our new contact with Valencia College and are delighted with our new students, who will be an inspiration for us as we work for the Crazy Card Party!”

Our next event will be a tree planting at Windermere Town Hall on January 17th at 10am to celebrate FL Arbor Day. The event’s highlight is a program by the students of Windermere Union Church Preschool.
