On Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, Windermere Garden Club had its first general meeting of the 2015-2016 club year. Our 1st VP Mary B. conducted the meeting for our president who was absent.
Due to injures and family issues the regular informal coffee became more of a “potluck” coffee. Some of the members who helped and/or brought food and/or decorations were Diane L., Theresa S.-M., Tanya C., Janet S., Maureen T., Eleanor N. and Carolyn B. Thank you to everyone for stepping in at the last minute.
Our speaker was gardening expert and author, Tom MacCubbin. He spoke on fall planting for Florida and had many tips on planting both summer and winter flowers and vegetables. For example, it is important not to plant pansies before Nov. 1st as Florida is too hot until that date. Tom also gave out prizes to members who were able to answer Florida gardening trivial questions.
