Before the meeting and during the break, our club photographer, Donna Ditges, set up a mini studio and took professional headshots of all members for the 2013 Yearbook. All members who had their portrait taken can find their photos on Donna’s website. The password to enter is “garden club” with no quotes and all lowercase. Click on this link: Foto Flix Photography. Donna will be taking photos again at the March meeting for those who missed the February meeting. Also, if you are not pleased with the photo of you taken at this meeting, you may try again at the March meeting. Everyone is encouraged to update their photos. They will be published in the 2013 Yearbook only and will be removed from Foto Flix Photography’s website after the April meeting.
Our speaker today was Brett McCallister – Public Relations at Orange County Parks & Recreation. The topic was “Death to Lawns.” We were informed about Florida’s water shortage and encouraged to reduce or eliminate lawns and to plant more native plants to reduce their water consumption. We received handouts indicating resources for information on native plantings. Your webmaster will attempt to post this information at a later date under our Resources links found on this website.
Jackie Haddock was recognized for achieving her accreditation as Master Flower Show Judge. Congrats, Jackie!
February 26, 2012 will be an Open House for Camp Wekiva. Anyone who wants to see what it is all about is encouraged to attend. Counselor volunteers are needed and can sign up at the Open House. For more information, please contact WGC member, Mary Brett, Jackie Rapport or Tanya Chesire.

Our Crazy Card Party fund-raiser is on March 22, 2012. Doors open at 10:15, starts at 11 am. Tickets cost $20.00. Check should indicate “player” or “donation.” Your check is your receipt; please make it payable to Windermere Garden Club. If you plan on eating, make a donation of at least $20.00. Other donations are up to the giver.
